Dreams come true

I have many goals that I have set for myself. I have fought with myself
many times over about what to do for a career. I have been told many times
that I am caring and compassionate and would make a great nurse. So I
decided to peruse a career in nursing. Since I have graduated high school in
2003, I have been working full time to pay for my night classes. I have
become very discouraged at times because taking night classes prolongs the
process of graduating. I have been determined, though, to finish college. I
will be the first person from my family to have graduated from college. My
parents have not been able to help me pay for school because of their own
monetary issues. They also have two other children to support; and I, being
the oldest, took it upon myself to go to school and be independent. I am
going to start nursing school at Raritan Valley in the fall. I am going to
have to quit my job and depend on loans to help me get by. I plan to
graduate in May 2011 with my degree and work in a hospital. I would love to
work in a children’s hospital some day. I want to give back to the
community and reach out to as many people as I can. I want to do something
meaningful with my life and to be able to be a nurse and make a difference
in at least one person’s life, well, that is the best education I could ask
for. I feel I am qualified because I am a dedicated and very hard worker. I
put forth determination to get where I want to be in life. I am a dedicated
student as well. I take my educational career seriously and always try my
best. The money from this scholarship would help out greatly being I depend
on only myself for scholastic money as well as having other financial
obligations. I have worked hard all my life to get where I am today, and I
am going to work even harder to achieve my dream of becoming a pediatric
nurse.
