Job Description:
Full Time (40 hrs/week) 8-4:30 Day Summary: To plan, organize, and implement specific treatment programs for individual patients in a variety of age groups according to the principles and practices of Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapist, or Speech/Language Therapist. To collaborate with interdisciplinary treatment team. Education: Graduation from a speech therapy accredited program with a Masters degree in Speech-Language Pathology, Communication Sciences, Communication Disorders or related areas. Experience: At least 1 year of experience in an acute care hospital, nursing home, school situation, or rehabilitation facility in the field of speech therapy. Some home care experience preferred. Special Skills: Current certification by the American Association of Speech-Language Pathologists and Audiologists (ASHA) in Speech-Language Pathology or equivalent. Maintains current state of New Jersey license in Speech-Language Pathology. Current and valid CPR certification. May be a CFY candidate. Ability to perform work accurately and give attention to details. Ability to use effective critical thinking and analytical skills. Ability to use effective time management to set priorities and perform job-related responsibilities. Ability to communicate and interact with the health-system, patients, family members, and multidisciplinary team members. Ability to function competently in a changing work environment related to changing patient needs. Supervision Expected: Functional supervision of Home Health Aides. Supervision Received: Supervision from the Manager of Rehabilitation Working Conditions: Office and home environments. Moderate noise level while in an indoor environment, protected by weather, but not necessarily from temperature changes. Exposure to all types of weather while making visits. Exerting up to 75 pound of force occasionally, and/or up to 30 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Requires stooping, kneeling, crouching, and crawling occasionally. Requires lifting supplies and equipment necessary for patient treatment, performing resistive exercises using weights, and positioning patients in bed, wheelchair, and chair. Exposure to infectious diseases and contact with non-intact skin. OSHA: Bloodborne Pathogen Category I Employees in this job description are expected to have contact with bloodborne pathogens and as such they are required to be oriented and annually trained under the Federal Occupational Safety and Health Administration''s Bloodborne Pathogen Standard (CFR 1910.1030)
